Is the event free?
Admission is free from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
After 5:00 p.m., a $5 entry fee will apply to all attendees ages 5 and up.

If it rains, is the event cancelled?
The festival will go on rain or shine. However, in the case of severe weather, the event may be cancelled for safety reasons. Please follow official city pages for real-time updates.
Can I pay with a credit card at the event?
Yes! Entry stations will accept credit/debit cards as well as cash, so you can choose your preferred payment method.
Is there parking available?
Yes! Parking will be available near the festival grounds, and trolley/shuttle service will also be provided. More details about shuttle routes and pick-up/drop-off points will be announced closer to the event date.
Will there be places to sit down?
Absolutely! The festival grounds feature grassy areas, shaded seating tents, and an amphitheater for guests to relax and enjoy the festivities.
Where can I buy water or soda at the event?
Beverages will be available for purchase at drink stations located throughout the festival grounds, including water and soda options.
Is there a bag policy?
Yes – a clear bag policy will be in place.

o Business 83 from Aster St. to Birch St.
o Cage Blvd. (281) from State Ave. to Cherokee Ave.
Soft Closuresat the following intersections:

o East/West Cherokee Ave & Cage Blvd.
Note
Businesses located within the road closure area are encouraged to remain open. All vehicles parked within the road closure zone (Cage Blvd. from State to Kelly, Business 83 from Aster to Birch and East Park Ave. from Cage to Athol) must be removed by Thursday, October 8th at 1:00 PM to allow set-up crews access. Public access to these businesses will remain available to pedestrians. These closures will remain in effect through Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Thursday and Friday, parking lots on both West Park Ave. will remain open
to ensure nearby businesses have access for customers and staff. These lots will close at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 9th for final festival setup.Vehicles parked on East and West Park Ave. from Athol to Bluebonnet must be relocated by Friday, October 9th at 8:00 AM.
Saturday, October 10th
o Hard and soft closures will remain in effect.
o Security checkpoints will be set up throughout the festival grounds.
Access Info
• On Saturday, October 10th, between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, festival staff will be cleaning and preparing the grounds. During this time, unauthorized individuals will not be permitted within the festival area and will be escorted out.
• Festival gates open to the public at 2:00 PM – free until 5:00 PM.
• After 5:00 PM, all attendees over age 5 must pay a $5 entry fee.
• Residents within the festival grounds must show proof of residency for checkpoint access.
• Only authorized personnel will be allowed inside the secure area prior to gates opening.
• Businesses within the grounds may remain open and are encouraged to do so.
Contact the Special Events Department to coordinate access and promotion if your business plans to stay open during festival hours.

The Avocado Festival is Pharr’s annual October tradition that brings the community together with live music, big-name headliners, talented local bands, delicious food, and family-friendly fun. Dozens of vendors join the celebration by featuring avocado-inspired foods, drinks, and creative displays, filling the festival grounds with flavor and color.
Beyond the main stage and vendors, visitors can enjoy unique attractions such as guacamole and avocado costume contests, lucha libre, a petting zoo, carnival rides, and much more.
What began as a celebration of Pharr’s role in the produce industry in 2023 has grown into one of the Valley’s most anticipated events. In 2024, the festival welcomed more than 20,000 attendees from across the Rio Grande Valley, making it a true showcase of community pride, culture, and flavor.
why avocados?
Pharr is home to the Pharr International Bridge, the nation’s leading crossing for fresh produce. For more than a decade, it has been the #1 produce bridge in the country, moving over 60% of the nation’s fruits and vegetables. Among these, avocados stand out as one of the most significant.
In fact, 70% of the avocados consumed in the United States pass through Pharr, with a record-breaking 1.3 billion pounds in 2024 alone. Grown in Michoacán and Jalisco, these avocados make their way across the Pharr International Bridge before reaching homes, restaurants, and markets nationwide.
